Tabuhan Island
Banyuwangi islands and beaches are indeed very charming beautiful nature and still not polluted by waste and garbage. It is no exaggeration if this place becomes one of the tours that must be visited when you stop in Banyuwangi, Tabuhan Island. The island is located 20 kilometers from the center of Banyuwangi, precisely in Bangsring Village, Wongsorejo, Banyuwangi Regency, East Java. It is an uninhabited island in the north of Banyuwangi and is in the middle of the Bali Strait.
This Tabuhan Banyuwangi Island has an area of about 5 hectares and offers natural beauty that is second to none with the characteristics of white sand and clear water along its coastline. Called Tabuhan Island because the wind blowing here faintly sounded like tetabuhan music. The underwater scenery is very fascinating. There are various coral reefs, which are home to reef fish, sponges, crayfish, and various marine growths. Tabuhan Island is perfect for scuba diving / snorkeling. There is nothing wrong with doing activities in the sea, namely swimming with marine animals because the water is very clear.
The condition of this island can be said to be a unique island. This is because the color of the sand along the coastlines directly next to the Bali Strait has dark beach sand, but this Tabuhan Island has white beach sand. Tabuhan Island is very interesting to visit because a variety of natural potentials are fully available there, ranging from beach sand, underwater natural beauty, flora and fauna, and ideal for kite surfing or kiteboarding.
The wealth of flora and fauna on Tabuhan Island complements the beauty of Tabuhan Island. One of the interesting animals observed is maleo, one of the protected animals in Indonesia. If you are lucky you can see this bird that has a black body, the skin around the eyes is yellow, and the feet are gray. In addition to the maleo bird, there are also ivory hornbills protected by the government and Indonesian nature reserves. The bird is characterized by a white abdomen, legs and tail. In terms of the flora’s richness, the island has a tooth-protected plant due to many hunted bonsai fans.
There is one more uniqueness, Tabuhan Island also has beautiful sunrise and sunset. So for those of you who stay in the island can bring tents for shelter. At first the island was used by Japanese soldiers as a spy. No wonder there is a beacon of relics from the Japanese colonial era that is still standing and deliberately maintained even though Tabuhan Island was officially opened as a new tourist destination in Banyuwangi. Lighthouses on Tabuhan Island can only be seen from the outside. Because the Banyuwangi District Government highly respects historical sites, the lighthouse is not opened for tourists for security reasons and maintains the condition of the lighthouse which is starting to be fragile because the wind conditions on Tabuhan Island are very strong.
