Rhema Hill (Chicken Church)
Beginning in 1989, a father named Daniel Alamsjah who came from Bandar Lampung received a divine call to pray overnight on a hill called Punthuk in the Borobudur area. The results of his prayer all night He got his word, He enlarged before him at 1 Chronicles 28:10, He interpreted this verse as a command for him to build a House of Prayer for all nations and for all religions.
Through a long struggle, many miracles took place in land acquisition, the construction began in 1992 and now the building is in the form of a dove, although it is not perfect, visitors from various ethnic groups came to see because of the unique shape and construction of pigeons the largest in the world, and from the top of the crown we can see the natural beauty of the Borobudur temple surrounded by mountains, Sumbing, Tidar, Merbabu, Merapi, Suroloyo which is very amazing.
In the basement there is a room – a cave-shaped room that can be used for private or group prayer. The distance from Yogyakarta is around 45 kilometers. The view from the alluring height was witnessed from this place in the morning. The place is hidden far enough, namely in the hills of Magelang, Central Java, but its name is now worldwide.
The building initiated by Daniel Alamsjah is known as the Chicken Church, This is because its shape resembles a chicken sitting on the ground in its head with a crown. The shape of the building is quite large, where there is a large space and rooms. Only, Daniel Alamsjah tried to straighten out that the building was not in the form of a chicken, but a dove.
Parts of the Chicken Church
- First Level, Church Ceiling
Here, visitors can see the entire chicken church room, with several abandoned pillars in the corner of the tail and flower-shaped windows on each side. If jelly, visitors can also watch the cross motif on the ceiling of the building.
- Second Level, Chicken Neck
At this level, visitors can watch the scenery through small parallelogram-shaped windows mounted on the neck. Including natural scenery that blends with the body to the tail of the chicken that is witnessed from the position of the chicken’s neck.
- Third Level, Chicken Beak
Going upstairs again, is the part of the chicken beak that is glittering, red. In this section there are facilities to watch the view from the chicken beak, but a blockade made of bamboo.
- Level Four, Crown of Chicken
If fit, visitors can also climb stairs to the crown of chickens through small holes the size of a body of Indonesian adults who are not overweight. Luckily I’m still slim. The most exciting thing is, the view from the crown of the chicken is amazingly beautiful.
TOURISM TIPS
- If from Jogja or Magelang city please go to Borobudur Temple. From the front of the Borobudur temple park, turn left, passing the Borobudur road – salaman. Continue straight until you find an alley or entrance to the hill of Rhema (see the signpost). The alley is located after the entrance to Punthuk Setumbu and before the entrance to Purwosari Hill. Follow the path and you will arrive at the hill of Rhema.
- To get to the location of Ayam Bukit Rhema Church you have to trekking from the parking area as far as 200 meters through concrete roads.
