Kalibiru Tourist Village
The Tourism Village was initiated by the local community in Hargowilis, Kokap at an altitude of 450 MASL in the Menoreh Hills of Kulon Progo, 40 kilometers from the center of Yogyakarta city or 7 kilometers from Wates City. Already opened since 2010, Kalibiru is one of the pioneers of natural tourism with substations that have sprung up in DIY and Bandung.
In that place, you will find a pine tree that rises on the edge of a cliff, which has a wooden board complete with a hanging ladder at the height of its trunk. That is the “View Tower.” From that height, you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Menoreh Mountains, with Sermo Reservoir in delight. Breathe in the fresh air while releasing everything you have.
The best time to come to Kalibiru and climb the Menara Pandang is on a sick day, to watch the twilight paint the sky with amazing colors. But coming in the morning will also be fun, because the water color of Sermo Reservoir is purplish blue. Don’t forget to prepare your camera.
There are six viewing posts in the trees which are provided in various forms as places for photographs. Each of these viewing posts can be approved by walking along the paths and steps. Although scattered in various places, the main view of the entire viewing post faces the Sermo Reservoir.
Because safety equipment must be installed by the guide, visitors who want to take photos or sit back at the watch booth are charged an extra fee of Rp 10,000 to Rp 15,000. If you want to be more challenging, there is also a flying fox facility and a suspension bridge with a ticket of IDR 35,000. Even if you don’t want to go up to the viewing post, every corner in this area also offers a view that is just as good.
